Beatlemania Concert – A Huge Success!

This week our school community was treated to a truly magnificent event - our Beatlemania Concert, held on both Monday and Tuesday. It was a unique and memorable celebration where every student from prep to grade 6 had the opportunity to be involved. Students showcased their talents in many ways - through singing, playing instruments, performing in the band, assisting with stage management, presenting to the audience, and welcoming parents and community members.

The commitment and professionalism of our students throughout the event was outstanding. From the moment they arrived in the music room to prepare and get organised, to their confident entry into the event and finally their performance on stage -they displayed high level dedication and maturity. The effort and enthusiasm made me extremely proud, and it was a joy to watch them.

The concert was a true team effort, and I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all staff who helped make it such a success. All class teachers gave incredible support through running extra practises, helping with costumes and preparing students for their big moment on stage.

The concert would not have been possible without the incredible support of our talented staff team:

  • Mrs Fran Burgess for her outstanding work on stage design, props, and contributions as part of the creative team,
  • Our administration staff for supporting the overall atmosphere and promotion of the school event, with particular thanks to Ms Jodi Cleaves.
  • Mr Trent Dhue and Mr Tuach Huseyin for their sound management and instrumental accompaniment along with Miss Billie Goss for her instrumental playing and support,
  • Mrs Deb Button for her stage management direction and coordination of classes as they prepared to present,
  • Mr Jack Johnstone and Mrs Lisa Webb for helping to co-ordinate performers,
  • Mr Jamie McGaughey for his excellent filming of the event,
  • Mr Simon Reade for his coordination, rehearsal time, And leadership of the concert band as well as his moving performance in the final song,
  • Mrs Claire Reade for joining our concert band performance in the powerful finale of Let It Be,
  • and most importantly, Ms Michelle Castle for her coordination, organisation, rehearsals, innovative ideas, and careful planning of the song sequence. Her work allowed us to take a musical journey through The Beatles’ history, beautifully represented by the performances of our Rosetta Primary classes.

Finally, a big thank you to all our parents and carers who came along to support the concert. Your presence, encouragement, and enthusiastic applause helped make the performances so special for our students and created a wonderful sense of community celebration.

Arts Update

Across the school in the Arts program, we have been looking at 1960s Art focusing on the Pop Art Movement.  Younger Grades have been looking at artist Andy Warhol and creating their own brightly colouring Pop Art Doughnuts.

Middle Primary classes have been looking at Pop Art through the lens of artist Roy Lichtenstein and his comic book inspired word art.  We’ve incorporated a literacy focus and have been investigating onomatopoeia, looking at how we can create sound through our use of words and colour.

In our upper primary classes, we’ve been challenging ourselves with designing our own Andy Warhol food-inspired works focusing on creating symmetrical works.

School Family Satisfaction Survey

The 2025 School Satisfaction Survey is here!

We want to hear from you, as input from families is very important to help us inform our school-planning and decision-making. Every year the Department for Education, Children and Young People conducts a School Satisfaction Survey to find out what your child(ren)'s school does well and where it may improve.

We would be grateful if you took part in our online survey about Rosetta Primary School.

  • The survey is open from Monday 25 August 2025 until Friday 19 September 2025 and should take about 5 minutes to complete.
  • Each family should nominate one person to fill in this survey for their child(ren).
  • Take the online survey by clicking the link below or by pasting it in your browser: https://nam.dcv.ms/cyE7BPZzvQ The survey is carried out on a secure website and all responses are anonymous and confidential.
  • All families in this school received the same survey link and no identifying information is collected. A summary of the survey results will be provided to schools.  Responses from individuals or small groups will NOT be disclosed to any Department for Education, Children and Young People staff.

Please contact our office if you require any assistance.

News from 5-6D

This term in Science, we have been learning all about electricity. We have explored what a circuit is and discovered how to build one that powers a lightbulb. Some students took on the challenge of creating circuits with two or three lightbulbs, while others experimented with how adding more batteries can change the brightness. It has been an exciting, hands-on unit where students have enjoyed investigating how electricity works in real life.

2025 Book Week Celebration Day

Thank you to all students and families who joined in the fun of books and celebrated with staff on Friday 22 August. Everyone did an amazing job to create original and thoughtfully selected items to match their favourite book choices. Students were inspired and shared their thoughts about costumes and books and how they arranged, borrowed items and made their special pieces. The judges were astounded at the commitment and variety of costumes.

This year’s judging team were: Mary (5-6 C student), Annabel G, Emily M., Esther S., and Amelia (5-6D students) and the students were accompanied by Jon and Mrs Lenthall.

Personally, I would like to thank the judges for their contribution and managing a challenging task. They involved themselves in meaningful and respectful conversations about each costume that was judged. This is an exciting task which they handled superbly.  The group also assisted with the selection of prizes for some of the categories.

Beatlemania Rocks Our School!

On Tuesday 26 August, our school hall turned into Abbey Road for one unforgettable afternoon! As part of World of Learning, students took us on a magical mystery tour through the music of the Beatles in our very own Beatlemania Concert.

From the first note of “Twist and Shout” to the big finale of “Let it Be”, the energy was incredible. Each class performed a Beatles classic with bright costumes, big smiles, and plenty of toe-tapping rhythms. We even learned fun facts about the Fab Four along the way.

Parents came and joined the fun as hits like “Help!”, “Lucy in the Sky”, and “Get Back” filled the hall. It truly was a day to remember – proving that Beatles music never goes out of style.

A huge thank you to our amazing staff for making the day so special. And to our talented students – you were absolute stars. As the Beatles would say, “Here Comes the Sun”… and it was shining bright on our Beatlemania concert.
