Exciting news for area 3!

We're thrilled to announce a fantastic new development in area 3, between the grade 5-6 classes, the music room and the grade one class - a brand-new basketball court! This rubber-surfaced court will feature basketball rings and a protective shade cloth, making it an all-weather, multi-use space for both break times and class activities. Construction has already begun and will continue throughout the term, with the court ready to be enjoyed by students in 2025. This exciting addition will provide a vibrant, safe and inclusive environment for our students to stay active end engaged all year round. See below an architect’s rendition of what the area will look like.

Kind regards

Deirdre

Save the Date for Carols at Rosetta!

We warmly invite our Rosetta community to join us for a magical evening of carols as we welcome in the holiday season together on December 6, 2024. Mark your calendars and bring along a picnic or enjoy delicious snacks available from our canteen or a visiting food van. This special event will feature performances from our classes, with plenty of opportunities for the audience to join in and sing along. It's a joyful celebration for the whole family, filled with music, community spirit and holiday cheer. Stay tuned for more details - we can't wait to see you there!

Hello this is the Student Parliament again...

We are working on many things and coming next in November and December we are helping with:

  • The Carols by Candlelight excitement! …. On Friday 6 December, we will be fundraising for the playground. We will be selling candles and bubbles to add to the fun of the Christmas experience.
  • We have created a new roster for the Dress Up Clothes and the focus will be for students Prep-Grade 2. Student Parliament representatives will supervise this recess activity.
  • At Assembly we introduced the respectful suitcases for Prep-2 and 3-6 classes. This is to recognise respectful audience and student behaviours throughout assembly.
  • For our Hobart City Mission Christmas Appeal, we are seeking donations of tinned foods and toys. Donations can be left in the containers in the front foyer. Thank you to families who have already added items to our appeal.

E Team

Yesterday we were delighted to have Gina Loewen from Hydro Education, representing the Keep Australia Beautiful group. She officially presented us with our grant funds and officially opened our bush tucker garden, the Kipli Garden. It was very exciting to show her how we have used the funds in establishing our garden. She was very complimentary about the work we have put into planning and organising our garden.

The E Team would like to thank Mr Clark very much for all the hard work he has put in, Mr Bourke for his assistance, Mrs Cleaves for her advice and support in creating the QR code and Izzy and Amelie in  5-6 D for designing the post notice.

All the E Team members are to be congratulated for the time and effort they have put into the various parts of the garden….. they have dug, weeded, carried and spread both soil and mulch, planted, watered, and most importantly ENJOYED the experience.

As we have reported previously, the plants are very young at this stage but, in time, they will have flowers, leaves and berries which are safe to eat.

Please come and have a look at our garden and use the QR code to find out more information about the plants we have chosen.

Our fun fact this week is……

Bush food has sustained generations of Aboriginal peoples for centuries, and today represents a rich and vibrant history in the culture of this land.

Children’s University

At the Children’s University Graduation ceremony last Tuesday, Rosetta Primary was represented by 50 amazing graduates…..the largest number of graduates from the schools represented.

Ms Arendt and other staff members who attended were immensely proud of all the students both for their outstanding achievements and their excellent behaviour.

A big thank you to all those parents and family members who were able to attend and enjoy the special occasion.

Families play such a critical role in this program, supporting their children’s involvement in the many and varied opportunities which are offered, and we appreciate your efforts very much.

Please keep adding hours to your passports…the counting towards graduation for 2025 starts now!!

Into The Ice - Hobart Bookshop Launch

An exciting evening at the Hobart Bookshop Launch on Thursday 7 November!  Coral Tulloch and Alison Lester released their new book Into The Ice. This was the book that Rosetta students saw Coral working on when she was conducting workshops at our school. It was great to see students at the Launch and enjoy this book experience.

School Crossing Guard

Our school is fortunate to have a dedicated crossing guard.

They play an important role in our community and work hard every day to keep students and families safe.

To help protect everyone, we’re sharing some Dos and Don’t around our school crossing area:

Do

Don’t

Always following the crossing guard’s instructions

Ignore a crossing guard’s instructions

Slow down, stay alert and be ready to stop safely when asked

Block visibility near the crossing zone by parking too close

Drive in a safe manner whenever you’re travelling through a school zone

Thank you for helping to keep our school community safe.

Let’s all do our part by respecting our crossing guard and the road rules. Together, we can create a safer journey to and from school!

Triathlon

The Schools Triathlon Challenge is getting closer with students getting ready to compete on November 29.

The school packs will arrive soon, and more information will be coming as soon as possible.

We wish all 54 students from grades 3-6 the very best at this year’s triathlon event!
