Principal's Report
Welcome to Week 4 of Term 4. Such an eventful time with so many learning opportunities and upcoming events. Many events are related to sports, the arts, and the assemblies that recognise student achievement. Later in December the end of year reporting information will be provided to families. Currently classes are undertaking the annual PAT assessments and this valuable tool assists with informing data for providing quality teaching practice. Well done to the staff who have been conducting the assessments and the Teacher Assistants who have supported individual students in the classrooms.
This Thursday the Interschool Swimming Carnival Team will be represented by 38 students from Grade 3-6. We wish them a successful Carnival. Mr Johnstone and Ms Button will be accompanying the team.
On Wednesday 6 November the students who are transitioning to Montrose Bay High in 2025 have been invited to view the annual Dragonfly event. This is an excellent opportunity to make connections with the local high school.
On the eve of the Show Day holiday The School Association arranged a Silent Disco event for students. There was a great turn out of students to support this event. It is always a pleasure to see students enjoying a relaxed and out of school hours opportunity. A big thank you to the organising team of parents and friends who assisted in making this a successful community event.
This week’s assembly featured the value of Growth - aspiring to learn and improving even when it is tough. This is evidenced every day in our school in so many different ways. Our students constantly amaze us in what they can achieve and how they succeed in their learning, wellbeing, sports, and arts activities both inside and outside of school hours. Our newsletters constantly remind of this as they represent these growth moments.
Ms Arendt is currently on leave this week and we wish her a relaxing and safe holiday.
Enjoy the upcoming pleasant weather and stay safe – especially if the predicted temperatures for Wednesday reach the high 20’s.
Regards,
Nola

Hello from the Executive of Student Parliament
This week we would like to report that:
- A letter has been sent to Mr. Dobransky. This is to convey our thanks for his considerable contribution, to the wonderful work of the mural.
We acknowledge the generous contribution that he has made to our school community.
We ask all students and community members to demonstrate our school value of respect for this new artwork in our playground.
- Starting later this week, we will have a roster for the dress up clothes to be placed in the gazebo. We are encouraging students who use the dress up clothes to please return them to the containers when they have finished using them.
- We will also be collecting food items (in date and not damaged) like tins and toys for The Hobart City Mission Christmas Appeal. There will be containers in the front foyer area for families wishing to donate. Donations will be collected in early December.
- If anyone has any suggestions for The Student Parliament, they can post them in the Letter Box on the white shelf in the front area of the library. Respectful and positive suggestions are always welcome.
- The next Student Parliament meeting is scheduled for Thursday 7 November in the Learning Centre - this week at lunchtime all student representatives should attend, and other interested students are always welcome. Student Parliament will meet on Assembly weeks.
- Next Assembly we are reintroducing the Suitcase for the classes Prep-2 and Grade 3-6 who have shown respectful behaviour throughout the Assembly. Suitcases will stay with classes until the next Assembly. Please be respectful of the items in the suitcase and enjoy.

E Team
As the Summer is approaching, we have found we have to do more watering to keep our plants growing.
Our E Team meetings usually involve lots of watering and weeding as we want to give our plants the best chance to survive.
We have an excellent team of helpers and have no trouble picking up a few extras!!
Our fun fact this week is about watering gardens…
Many people wonder how best to water a garden. They ask, “How much water should I give my garden?” or “How often should I water a garden?” It's really not as complicated as it seems, but there are some things that should be considered. These include the type of soil you have, what your climate or weather is like, and the types of plants you are growing. Different plants have different watering needs. Larger plants need more water as do newly planted ones. Most container plants need watering on a daily basis— sometimes twice or even three times a day. The most suitable time for watering is morning, which reduces evaporation, but late afternoon is okay as well.

Children's University Graduation
Children’s University graduates will be attending their Graduation this year on Tuesday 12 November at 1:30 pm, at Stanley Burbury Theatre UTAS.
All students will travel by bus leaving school at 1:00 pm. Students will either leave the Graduation with parents or return to school on the bus. As the return time will be after 2:45 pm, parents may need to make alternative arrangements for siblings.
Students are asked to wear school uniform on that day.
We wish all graduating students an enjoyable occasion.

Rosetta Primary School-Tassie Researchers
For the last two weeks selected students have participated in a program we were very lucky to take place in. It was run by the UTAS group. The program was called Tassie Researchers. They evaluated and researched the 2022 Wellbeing Strategy, and critiqued it, and made presentations of our thoughts. We made a book to present our group findings. We would like to thank the Researchers that came and gave us this INCREDIBLE opportunity – Becky, Noeline, Satchi and Megan.
We all enjoyed our time very much. We will be sharing pur work with the rest of the school and community soon.

A Good News Story
Ryan has recently competed in the All-Schools Primary Athletics Competition representing Rosetta Primary School. From this event he has been selected to represent Tasmania in four upcoming events at the Sydney Olympic stadium for Nationals at the end of the month. Ryan is super excited about representing his state and it is a dream come true for him. He is representing Tasmania in the 100m, 200m, long jump and the combined event which incorporates 100m, long jump, shot put and 800m events. His results were 3rd in the 200m, 4th in the 100m, 3rd in the long jump and 2nd in the combined events.
Rosetta Primary are delighted for Ryan and wish him all the best for the upcoming National Athletics Carnival.
We are always delighted to hear such good news stories and learn about students pursuing their dreams and having the courage to accept challenges and embrace opportunities. Ryan’s successes truly demonstrate his growth in his preferred sport and the courage to fulfil his dreams.
Well done, Ryan.

Regional Basketball Championships
Over the past 8 weeks our grade 3/4 and grade 5/6 Basketball Teams have been training in preparation for the Basketball Tasmania Regional Basketball Championships.
Our Grade 3/4 team will be competing this weekend, we wish them good luck in their games Saturday and Sunday.
Our Grade 5/6 team competed over the weekend of October 26 and 27, coming up against St Brigid’s, Immaculate Heart, Risdon Vale and Dodges Ferry Primary Schools.
They showed amazing sportsmanship and determination throughout the weekend. Our division 3 fixture did not have finals, however our final game against Dodges Ferry was all but that, with both teams going into the game undefeated and the winner taking out top position for the division. Our players fought back from being 9 points behind at half time to take the lead in the last minutes of the game with a 10 to 2 last quarter!
Congratulations to the Grade 5/6 boys, finishing undefeated and top of Division 3!
Well done to Rory, Toby, Felix, Ryan, Joel, Mason, Damien, Thomas, Riley and Emmanuel.
Special thanks to Montrose Bay High for providing us the use of their gymnasium for training sessions and to the coaches Daniel Willing, Jason Shelton and Heidi Hancock for providing their time and expertise.
