Student Parliament Report
Student Parliament
Hello Families and Friends of Rosetta Primary
Since our last Student Parliament Update …
We have entered the 7HOFM $10,000 dollars competition for schools. We made a video of our school grounds – and were hoping to win some funding for new equipment, especially in the Grade 5-6 playground.
However, we were unsuccessful participants but wish the winning school well.
We packed up five boxes of food, toys and clothing and blankets for the Dogs Home.
Ms Cleaves, our School Business Manager delivered these for us. The staff were very happy to receive our donations.
We have started the filming of a lockdown video for Ms Arendt to share with the school.
We have also made a Mace for our Student Parliament and will have that available for our meetings in coming weeks.
Mr Dobransky has agreed to start work on the Mural in Term 4 Week 2 and we are very excited about that.

Thank you to all the families who supported us during Book Week which helped to ensure that we celebrated well and enjoyed the fun of sharing our favourite books and characters.
Thanks to all the staff who participated and supported the students during the celebration day on Friday. Their Little Miss and Mr Men costume theme was extremely popular.

To our student judges and Jon – thank you for ensuring we looked at every costume and had the pleasure of talking books and characters all day! The photos and videos you recorded were a great record of the parade and costumes.

Book Week Boss
Recently the ABC radio ran a competition to find the Book Week Boss for 2024.
We nominated our own Book Week organiser and expert, Mrs Nola Lenthall.
We let them know about all the wonderful ways in which Mrs Lenthall encourages our school to participate in Book Week each and every year and how much she supports every student to participate in the PRC.
We definitely think Mrs Lenthall is an amazing Book Week Boss.
Mrs Lenthall was one if the runners up and her nomination was read out on the Ryk Goddard program last Friday morning.
Congratulations and thank you Mrs Lenthall.

Special Persons’ Day Stall
This Thursday 29 August, the School Association will be holding their Special Persons’ Day Stall to coincide with Father’s Day. Students will have the opportunity to attend the stall with their class and can purchase up to two items.
We have a lovely selection of gifts suitable for Dad, Pop or any of the other special males who they want to thank.
Gifts range from $2-$10 and we suggest bringing a small bag along with their money (cash only) in a named zip lock bag.
All funds raised will go towards our fundraising goals which include upgrading of the Grade 5/6 playground.
Thank you for your support,
Kim Jones
Stall co-ordinator
Science Week 2024
Last Monday, we were treated to a visit and very informative talk from local neuroscientist Dr Lila Landowski. Dr Lila told us about the importance of the brain – that all activity in the body is controlled by the brain. She then explained that when serious injuries occur it can result in an inability to receive messages from the brain. Several students helped her to demonstrate how difficult this becomes.
She also talked to students about how important it is use your breathing to help regulate your thinking….a couple of deep breaths in and then a slow breath out a few times in a row can help to calm your emotions.
We would like to express our thanks to Dr Lila for fitting us into her busy schedule.

Science Comes to LIL
The children loved looking at all the colours through the kaleidoscopes, putting on the coloured glasses, blowing some amazing bubbles, checking out the skeleton with their magnifying glasses and programming the Beebots to go where they chose. What better way to engage your brain than starting with the questions “How does?” or “Why does?”

The Student Wellbeing and Engagement Survey
The Student Wellbeing & Engagement Survey for 2024
For Grade 4-6 students
This began on Monday 26 August and closes on 20 September. Students will be supported through the process at all times. All students’ details stay confidential.
Parents from Grade 4-6 will already have received the relevant information about the survey with the last newsletter. We encourage families to read this information and discuss the importance of taking part with their child/ren.
This is a valuable way for the school to obtain Wellbeing data. It helps us to evaluate programs and actions and to guide planning for positive outcomes for all students in our school.
For further details or information please contact the front Office on 62081200 or talk with Mrs Lenthall.

The 2024 School Satisfaction Survey is open!
Every year the Department for Education, Children and Young People conducts a School Satisfaction Survey to find out what your child(ren)'s school does well and where it may improve. Your feedback is very important to help us inform our school improvement planning and decision-making.
If you have not had the opportunity to complete the survey about Rosetta Primary School yet, it is open until Friday 20 September 2024 and should take about 5 minutes of your time. Each family should nominate one person to fill in this survey for their child(ren).
Take the online survey by clicking this Link, or pasting it in your browser:
The survey is carried out on a secure website and all responses are anonymous and confidential. All families in this school received the same survey link and no identifying information is collected. A summary of the survey results will be provided to schools. Responses from individuals or small groups will NOT be disclosed to any Department for Education, Children and Young People staff.
Please contact your school if you require any assistance.
Thank you for taking the time to fill in this survey.
