Principal’s Report
Dear Parents and Carers,
Our busy term is continuing with plenty of learning happening for all in our school.
Maths Professional Learning
Last night, we had the pleasure of Louise Hodgson who is the lead of mathematics for the Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP) in the south of the state, leading a professional learning session for our teaching staff. It was an excellent mix of theory and practical applications. We looked closely at multiplication and division. Our discussions were enhanced by the fact that we invited Glenorchy Primary School to the professional learning as well. I would like to thank our Quality Teaching Coach of Mathematics, Mrs Lisa Webb for organising such a timely, interesting session and Mr Johnson along with our student leaders for helping in the organisation. We are very fortunate that we have two more sessions to look forward to.
Upcoming Changes to staffing
On Friday 7 June, there will be a number of changes happening with staffing. This day will sadly be Miss Graham’s last day with us. Miss Graham is leaving us to pursue other professional educational and learning experiences external to DECYP.
Miss Graham has worked at Rosetta Primary School for eight years and in that time she has established many positive connections with students and families. We will miss her enthusiasm, warmth and commitment to the role of Grade 5-6 teacher and her willingness to lead and train sporting teams like Netball, guide some of the transition to High School work, and ensure the establishment of the Student Parliament at Rosetta Primary where schoolwide initiatives have occurred through the engagement of class representatives using student voice and empowerment.
At the same time, we will be welcoming back Mr Bourke from his leave and he will transition to the role of Grade 5-6 B teacher (Monday Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday). Miss Baric will capably be taking over the class on Thursdays while Mr Bourke resumes his AST/Quality Teaching Numeracy role in the school.
Miss Dillon will be continuing as the teacher on the Grade 4-5 class for the remainder of 2024, Monday – Friday.
We thank Mr Bourke for his flexibility, Miss Baric for her commitment and work with the 4-5 class and Miss Dillon who have all made changes so as to minimise disruptions to student learning.
Congratulations to the students in the attached photos.
These students have been highlighted by members of staff for their commitment to and courage in learning at Rosetta PS.
Kind regards
Deirdre

5-6A Excursion to Government House
Dear Parents and Guardians
On Wednesday 12 June, 5-6A will be attending Government House for an excursion to deepen our understanding about Australia’s political structure.
Students will be touring the grounds and house, harvesting and planting vegetables, as well as cooking with fresh produce from the garden. There may also be an opportunity to meet with the Governor.
We will be leaving school at 9:40am and returning by 2:00pm.
As morning tea and lunch are provided, students will not be required to bring their own food for the day. Please advise the school office of specific dietary requirements by Wednesday 8 May so Government House can be advised. Students will need to be in school uniform on this day.
Thank you.

Student Free/ Moderation Day
Friday 7 June will be a Student Free/Moderation Day. If you require care for your child/children on this day, please contact Lady Gowrie on 6230 6800.
Congratulations
Isobelle (5-6D) has informed us that she has auditioned for the Victorian Ballet production of Swan Lake. A short cameo role as part of the ensemble. They will be performing at the Hobart Theatre Royal. Around 40 plus people auditioned with about half that number being invited to be part of the production.
We congratulate Isobelle on this achievement and wish her every success for her performance. Such a wonderful experience and acknowledgement of her commitment to ballet.
