Principal’s Report
Dear Parents/ Carers
School has continued the term with exciting weeks filled with focused energy. One highlight for me has been our recent assembly. At the assembly, one of our grade 5-6 classes, 5/6 A, demonstrated their leadership by presenting their goal of fund-raising for an AED- an automated external defibrillator for our site.
They presented their PowerPoint research at the assembly and highlighted how it was used when someone experienced a heart issue. What impressed me the most was through their thinking and care for others, they wanted to purchase a device that can significantly help others. 5/6A have already started the fundraising with the Glenorchy City Council agreeing to give a generous donation towards the purchase of a device.
Caring for others is an important gesture and value in our school community. Each day, I see students offering help to others, it may be their friends or a staff member, staff also offer care and support to students and each other. I think this is one of the main reasons visitors to our school give the feedback of how they can feel Rosetta Primary School is a positive place to be.
Looking forward to seeing you all at the Rosetta Primary School Athletics Carnival next week. (We have an assembly on to which you are welcome to attend)
Kind regards
Deirdre

Volunteering and Safeguarding Information
We all have a role to play in keeping children and young people safe.
This year, there is important training that anyone who works with children or young people must complete. This includes all our volunteers and service providers. The training is compulsory under new laws designed to better safeguard children and young people in Tasmania.
It will help you understand what to do if you believe a child or young person is or may be being harmed, and
to make sure you are doing all you can to prevent this from happening. The training will also tell you what
you must report under the new laws.
This simple, online training must be done as soon as possible, and you will need to complete it before you
work with any children and young people this year. Once completed, you will receive a certificate, which you can save.
To complete your training, simply visit Safeguarding Training.Thank you for leading the way in caring for our children and young people safely so that they can focus on living bright lives with positive futures.

Mathletics
Mathletics is the world’s leading online maths program designed for use at school and at home. Mathletics is aligned directly to the Australian curriculum. Learning tasks are assigned by classroom teachers to compliment and extend the work students do in class.
Mathletics allows teachers to gain deep insights through data-driven reports into how learners are progressing. These reports can be used to find where students are excelling, where they’re being challenged, and how to shape future teaching.
At Rosetta Primary School we have subscriptions for students from year 1 to year 6.
We strongly encourage the use of Mathematics at home to progress your child’s learning. Studies show that best gains are made when Mathletics is used a minimum of three day a week.
All students in grade 1-6 have a username and password. If your child needs a reminder of their log in details, please contact your child’s teacher.
Maths problem solving competition
Welcome back to the family problem solving competition for 2024. At Rosetta we have a schoolwide approach for problem solving activities. This approach is called CUBES. This strategy is a step-by-step guide which enables students to identify key information and eliminate all irrelevant words.
The Numeracy Coaches will run problem-solving competitions in the newsletter throughout the year. Once the activities have been completed, return your entry to the office and a lucky winner will receive a prize and certificate in our assembly. Don’t forget to add your name, class, and show us all the steps you have taken to solve the problem.
